Tis the Spring Season and nature's ongoing visual reminder of regeneration, growth, and renewal is out in full bloom! Taking time in our daily schedule to visit a shoreline (lake, ocean, river) or to walk along a forested trail, to sit on a bench in one of the many parks, can positively support our own system's renewal, centering and grounding.
If you are able to access any of these environments, consider what it would be like to slow your system down where you can become really present in the moment. One way to invite mindful presence is to hone your observational skills. This can be done by bringing with a small sketchbook and creating small drawings, another option is to use photography and take close up photos of different natural elements that you notice. Ask yourself questions to really "see" the natural place and space that you have chosen to visit: Example questions: 1) How many different colours do I see? 2) How many textures could I touch? 3) What sounds do I hear? 4) What does the temperature feel like (sun or shade?) 5) What do I see when I look upwards, or down towards my feet. 7) What do I notice in terms of scent? Try to look at your surroundings with a "beginner's eye" ~ invite curiosity!
